[Video] ‘The Vampire Diaries’: Elena Spills A Huge Secret In This Exclusive Clip From ‘I Alone’

With all of the death, destruction, and Steroline heartbreak going down over on “The Vampire Diaries,” it can be easy to forget that the recent Thanksgiving episode offered up something pretty delicious for fans to be thankful for. At the end of the night, the gang finally realized that Bonnie (Kat Graham) was still alive and in Purgatory, giving them a fighting chance at having their beloved best friend back.

Oh, sorry, did I say “the gang?” Because what I really meant to say was “the gang minus Jeremy,” since Bonnie’s depressed, grieving ex-boyfriend still thinks she’s in the ground. Unfortunately for timing, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) will finally move past his “burgeoning alcoholic” phase in the December 4 episode “I Alone,” which means it’s time for Elena (Nina Dobrev) to rain on his parade and spill those Bonnie beans, reopening his wounds.

Get a peek at how all of this goes down below:

[VD Spoilers] Synopsis For Season 6 Midseason Finale: "Christmas Through Your Eyes"

Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham)
Christmas is supposed to be a cheerful time... but not when you’re on The Vampire Diaries. The CW just released the synopsis for the Season 6 midseason finale — Season 6, Episode 10 (“Christmas Through Your Eyes”) — and it sounds pretty dismal for every single person.

From the sound of things, Bonnie (Kat Graham) is still unable to get home to her friends, and Caroline (Candice Accola) will also be down in the dumps because she can’t return to the magic-free Mystic Falls. Luckily for Caroline, however, her mom (Marguerite MacIntyre) is going to bring the holidays to her oversized Whitmore College dorm. We’re a bit freaked out that Stefan (Paul Wesley) will be revealing some “devastating” news to Caroline, though.

What really has us worried is that Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) has gone missing and it’s up to Alaric (Matt Davis), Elena (Nina Dobrev), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to investigate her whereabouts. Now that we know a lot more about the Gemini Coven, we’re worried what might go down — especially since this is a huge episode.

Elsewhere in the episode, Tyler (Michael Trevino) has a “risky plan” that could help Liv (Penelope Mitchell) and Luke (Chris Brochu), while Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig) are looking to take Enzo (Michael Malarkey) down.

Executive producer Julie Plec teased in a TV Line report that the mid-season finale episode will have some "big, big, big chapter-ending moves" at the ending that will "change a lot for everyone."

Check out the synopsis for the 10th episode:
With the holidays approaching, Bonnie attempts to replicate her favorite traditions, while reminiscing about happier times with her friends. Not able to return home to Mystic Falls for her favorite time of the year, Caroline is surprised when Sheriff Forbes brings the holidays to her at Whitmore College. Meanwhile, after discovering that Jo has gone missing, Alaric turns to Damon and Elena for help, while Liv and Luke find themselves at odds when Tyler approaches them with a risky plan. Elsewhere, Jeremy helps Matt carry out a plan to take down Enzo but grows concerned when Matt takes things too far. Lastly, Stefan is forced to break some devastating news to Caroline.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 mid-season finale titled "Christmas Through Your Eyes" is scheduled to air on Thursday night, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

[Interviews] Nina Dobrev Talks Holiday Plans and Reveals She Just Bought a House in LA

Nina Dobrev and her on-screen persona, Elena Gilbert, have something a common—a love of family!

The Vampire Diaries star opened up about what she is most excited for this holiday season, and, spoiler alert! It involves family, friends and fire! The Bulgarian beauty can't always make it back home, so she is going to soak up all the time she can get with her fam.

"I'm really excited and looking forward to spending time with my family over the holidays. Since we don't get to see each other very much during the year I love to take full advantage of the time we get to spend together," she said.

Unlike her vampire character on the CW show, Nina doesn't have to wear a ring in order to be in the sun, which works out for her because while she is at home she'll be spending a lot of time in it this winter!

"It's going to be a great time filled with days on the slopes snowboarding with my brother and spending nights around the fireplace with my family hopefully making lots of s'mores :)."

Although she says she can't always make it back home to see her family, Nina has her new home to look forward to! The 25-year-old year old actress just purchased a new house in L.A. where she is looking forward to entertaining her friends.

"One of my favorite things to do is host a girls night where my girlfriends and I can get together and come together in the kitchen, test out new recipes and just enjoy each others company," she said. "I also love throwing a good game night with running charades and all! I'm especially excited to host these dinner and game nights once I've finished decorating my home, and after attending the new Restoration Hardware RH Atlanta Gallery store opening I have so many ideas."

The A-list store opening must have been a hotspot for creativity, as the new RH Atlanta Gallery boasts 70,000 square feet and six stories of stylish furniture vignettes, a rooftop garden and conservatory, and endless options for creating a chic abode.

The party, which was also attended by best-selling Southern authors Emily Giffin and Kathryn Stockett, had Cipriani bellinis flowing while RH Music's British singer songwriter Edei and rock and soul sisters Larkin Poe performed, with DJ Chelsea Leyland spinning between sets.

Time to get back to reality. Don't miss an all new TVD Thursday at 8/7c!

Elena isn't letting Stefan go that easily.

[News] Nina Dobrev Is in Yet Another Love Triangle in These First Look Photos From The Originals' Crossover!

It's time to meet the original doppelganger!

As we exclusively reported back in September, Nina Dobrev is set to guest star on The Originals, crossing over from The Vampire Diaries to play not Elena, not Katherine, not Amara, but a character fans have yet to meet: Tatia, the woman both Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) fell in love with oh-so-many years ago. Oh, and the original doppelganger!

And we're sharing the exclusive first pictures of Dobrev in action as Tatia, looking like a serious badass (Loving that hair, girl!) and getting super close to both brothers. (Hey, can you blame her?!)
"What we remember from The Vampire Diaries, for those who watch both shows, is that [Klaus and Elijah] both loved her, so it's a little bit of history repeating itself like with Stefan [Paul Wesley] and Damon [Ian Somerhalder]," creator Julie Plec says of Tatia's highly anticipated debut. "And then Esther [Alice Evans], their mother, killed her so that she could make Klaus not a hybrid. There's lots of secrets and scandal and romance and terrible tragedy attached to her character. We'll get to go back into the past to see how that all played out."

Dobrev is only the second TVD star to appear on The Originals, with Michael Trevino guest staring as Tyler in season one. As for why it was time to stage another crossover, Plec told us, "The character of Tatia is part of their history and is kind of a dangling chad. It's something we brought up a long time ago and never paid off."
Taking on a fourth character was "really fun" experience for Dobrev, who described Tatia was the "most pure" of all the Petrova women.

"She's the original and so she kind of feels the most pure, to me, of all the characters ,and unaffected and doesn't have all of this previous history of the doppelgangers preceding her to add pressure," Dobrev said of Tatia. "She was just sort of the dealing with love that went wrong."

When we asked the star to predict what would be trending on Twitter on the night her crossover airs, Dobrev said, "#Tatia, #Awesomesauce and hopefully #NinaCrushedIt." Make it happen, Twitter. Make. It. Happen.

The Originals airs Mondays at 8 p.nm, with Dobrev's episode airing on Monday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m.

[News] New Details for The Originals’ Vampire Diaries Crossover Have Surfaced

Nina Dobrev heads to The Originals in the Nov. 3 episode as original doppelganger, Tatia, who will be seen in Vikings-era flashbacks. . A character previously mentioned during the 13th episode of The Vampire Diaries season three, "Bringing Out the Dead," she will be interacting with Joseph Morgan's Klaus and Daniel Gillies' Elijah. How did the opportunity to have her on The Originals present itself? As the season was being realized, The Originals writers came up with an arc that almost required Dobrev's presence — and it would have likely been scrapped had the Vampire Diaries star not been able to do it.
”We want to have these crossovers take place from a point of story. What makes the most sense for our story? “There’s no possible way to tell the story if we didn’t get Nina Dobrev,” co-executive producer Michael Narducci told a handful of reporters at a recent screening. “We basically got on our knees and begged her.”
"She was, to her credit, wonderful," added Narducci. "We tell a story that will make you understand [Tatia's] fate, what happened to her, her relationship with both brothers, and why what happened between her and the two brothers is so beautiful and also tragic."
The writers spent significant time making sure Elijah's dinner scene in Vampire Diaries, when Tatia is first referenced (Elijah called her "an exquisite beauty"), remained intact. (Watch that scene below.) "We studied every word of that to make sure we were honoring that and I think we do," Narducci assured.

Read more 'Vampire Diaries' Star Nina Dobrev Heads to 'The Originals'

In fielding obligatory questions about future Originals-Vampire Diaries crossovers, Narducci admitted, "That's a little bit above my pay grade." The likelihood of stories in Mystic Falls and New Orleans converging, specifically in reference to Klaus and Caroline's courtship, seemed slim. "It doesn't feel like there's an easy way to make people drop what they're doing in Mystic Falls and come to New Orleans, and certainly once our story lines get rolling, it's going to be very obvious that it'll be very impossible for our characters to take a vacation and go to Mystic Falls," he explained. "If anything, the last thing [Klaus] would want is to involve someone else in that. There's a lot of dirty family business to deal with first."
As for Dobrev, Tatia represented a contrast to the other doppelgangers (see: Elena, Katherine, Amara) she's played over the years.
"She's the very first doppelganger so she doesn't have the history of all the other doppelgangers behind her. She is the purest of them all, she's the most unaffected, she's the most regular — almost like how Elena was before all this shit happened," the actress tells The Hollywood Reporter, laughing at the thought of what has since transpired on Vampire Diaries. "But it definitely catches up to her as any character on this show affected by all these supernatural beings [are]. It doesn't really go well for her. It's all about love and happiness until everything goes wrong."

The Originals returns Oct. 6 on The CW.

[Interview] 'Vampire Diaries' post-mortem: Nina Dobrev on premiere twist, what's next

In The Vampire Diaries‘ season 6 premiere, Elena was left to grieve the loss of Damon. Only, her coping mechanisms weren’t exactly conventional. And in a final twist, she decided to use Alaric’s return to her advantage by asking the Original vampire to compel her to forget Damon altogether.
Between that and the image of seeing Damon making pancakes (in flannel!), the premiere left a lot of questions unanswered. We got Nina Dobrev’s reaction to the Elena twist, mixed with a few additional answers from executive producer Caroline Dries.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was your reaction to Elena asking Alaric to compel her to forget Damon?
NINA DOBREV:
I thought it was a little sudden, especially because it is the first episode, but then you have to think it’s been four months since he left. But based on the arc that we’ve witnessed and the things that she goes through that we see in this first episode and how difficult that is for her, it’s almost like asking someone to admit you into rehab, you know? To accept and realize that you have a problem and that it needs to stop and this is the only solution. It maybe wouldn’t have been what I would do if it was me, Nina, in that kind of a situation, but for her, that’s almost a testament of how strong and powerful her love is for him that she can’t live without him.

Do you think this is a quick decision she’ll regret, or do you feel like it’s something she’s thought through and will keep pushing for?
I think both. I think it is a little bit of a rash decision that she will regret, but I also think that she has been thinking about it and has decided this is the only solution.

Technically speaking, if Alaric goes through with it, will he erase entire memories or just take Damon out of memories?
Both. [It's] situation by situation. You don’t just say one thing and compel them. It’s going to be a long process to alter every memory that she’s had and every experience that she’s had.

So it’s like weekly therapy sessions with Alaric.
[Laughs] Well I can’t say how they do it but, kind of.
Additional scoop …
-As for Alaric’s reaction to Elena’s question, executive producer Caroline Dries said “That’s a big part of the next episode. Damon is his friend too and so, for her, it’s a hard decision, but for him, it’s also like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this to my friend.’ So that will be the emotional journey in the next episode.”
-Damon and Bonnie’s whereabouts will be revealed in episode two.
-Ivy is sticking around, at least for now. “She opens the door into this world of Stefan’s that we’ve never seen before,” Dries said. “We get to learn what his process is as a vampire of starting over and living a different identity. We’ve only seen him as Stefan Salvatore, high school student turned Elena’s boyfriend. So we get to see Stefan Salvatore, guy who works at a mechanic in Savannah. So that will open us to a new world for a little while.”
-Expect Liv and Tyler’s chemistry to be explored further, a.k.a. their flirtation will become a storyline.
-Jeremy hasn’t hit rock bottom yet.
-The love triangle is still alive, though not in the same way. “I don’t really call it a triangle because Stefan has become more of a soul friend of Elena’s,” Dries said. “So he’s dealing with his own stuff, but those two are still very connected. It’s more of ‘How do we maintain Elena and Damon’s love story while he’s not present?'”
-Mystic Falls will be open to supernatural beings again … eventually.
-Stefan’s boss will be back. “He’s not going to have a storyline or anything, but he just kind of represents like the human element of Stefan’s story,” Dries said. “We will see him in the same kind of situation.”
-Enzo hasn’t given up on Damon. “We’ve really only seen Enzo in the context of Damon. Damon is his best friend. He’s like Damon’s soulmate, and so Damon dying obviously took a toll on Enzo. We saw Stefan kind of having given up, and so Enzo is going to turn out to have had a different reaction to Damon’s death. He’s not going to give up on him. So his point of view on Damon is in direct conflict with Stefan’s.”
-As for Alaric, who’s struggling with what Dries called “an uncomfortable-in-his-own-skin kind of story,” she teased, “There’s drinking in every single scene of every single episode.”

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.

[News] Nina Dobrev Is Heading to The Originals!

Hold onto your fangs, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals fans, because we've got some major crossover scoop guaranteed to make you freak out!

Our Kristin Dos Santos sat down with one of the busiest and most kickass showrunners in the biz, Julie Plec, aka the lady who's brought us some of our favorite couples in pop culture, and she had some awesome scoop to share with us about which TVD star is swapping shows for an episode on The Originals this season and why.

And we're not exaggerating when we say that it's as amazing as you could ever hope for.

Watch our interview with Plec above now to find out who's crossing over!
SCOOP: Sebastian Roché teases his "epic" return to The Originals in season 2

Who's ready for yet another impressive role from doppelganger expert Nina Dobrev?

That's right, the TVD star is about to show off her acting chops once more by introducing another doppelganger via flashbacks to the TVD/Originals universe.

"There's a lot of people that could cross over, and when we plan our crossovers, we like to think of the most clever way to integrate The Vampire Diaries mythology into The Originals mythology," Plec tells us. "There was a character's name introduced a long time ago in season three in association with Klaus [Joseph Morgan] and Elijah [Daniel Gillies] and how they became vampires and a girl that they both loved a long time ago who was the original doppelgänger, Tatia. So Nina Dobrev will be visiting The Originals for a nice little storyline in our fifth episode which airs November 3."

Nina Dobrev, Vampire Diaries
Plec teases that Tatia's presence will bring out a side to the Original brothers that fans have seen them struggle with time and time again: falling in love with the same woman. "What we remember from The Vampire Diaries, for those who watch both shows, is that [Klaus and Elijah] both loved her, so it's a little bit of history repeating itself like with Stefan [Paul Wesley] and Damon [Ian Somerhalder]," Plec says. "And then Esther [Alice Evans], their mother, killed her so that she could make Klaus not a hybrid. There's lots of secrets and scandal and romance and terrible tragedy attached to her character. We'll get to go back into the past to see how that all played out."

So why introduce Tatia on The Originals now, three seasons after her name was mentioned on TVD? "We made a rule at the very beginning, like, ‘Let's not be number whores or number grabbers,'" Plec explains. "We don't want to be doing crossovers for the sake of, ‘Look at us!' You know? But in this particular case, the character of Tatia is part of their history and is kind of a dangling chad. It's something we brought up a long time ago and never paid off."

Are you as excited as we are to see Dobrev pull off yet another doppelgänger, this time in a deadly love triangle between Klaus and Elijah? Clear your schedules now, because Dobrev's episode of The Originals airs Monday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m.

We can't wait to see how this latest crossover episode stacks up against all the other, epic ones.

For those who don't obsessively re-watch all the crossover episodes as much as possible (just us?), the first crossover episode was the birth of The Originals, when the backdoor pilot for the spinoff series aired as an episode of TVD in late season four. The first official crossover came in November of last year, when TVD star Michael Trevino brought his character Tyler to The Originals to finally get his revenge on Klaus for being the reason he had to end his relationship with Caroline (it didn't go well for Tyler). Then, the Original siblings Klaus and Rebekah (and even a hallucination of Elijah) crossed over for the 100th episode of TVD last season to say goodbye to Katherine (and hook up with Caroline and Matt!).

So basically no matter what happens when Dobrev shows up on The Originals, it's pretty much guaranteed to be an episode that inspires a thousand GIFs.

The Vampire Diaries season six premieres Thursday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. and The Originals season two premieres Monday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. on the CW.

Watch E! News tonight to see what else Plec had to say about the huge crossover!

Aaaaand, say goodbye Mystic Falls! Our favorite vamps are leaving their hometown behind when we see them again in the season six premiere. Star, and all-around kickass chick, Nina Dobrev, explained to ET that due to the jaw-dropping events in the season five finale, it feels like The Vampire Diaries has hit the reset button and become a whole new show.

"We're banned from Mystic Falls, two of our main character are dead, and we're all mourning them," she said. "It's like a new shift and a whole new show--The same, but better." In addition, the brunette beauty spilled that Elena and Co. will also be "meeting a lot of new people," which could prove to fill the void that last season's deaths have left behind.

[Video] Nina Dobrev Plays Good Cop/Bad Cop

The "Let's Be Cops" star shines in a bit of role-playing.

[Interviews] Nina Dobrev talks Let’s Be Cops, buddy cop movies, and Twitter

People don’t normally associate the name Nina Dobrev with comedy.  The breakout starlet of the hit CW series The Vampire Diaries is more firmly rooted in drama, but she seems eager to spread her talents around.  And so she’ll stretch her funny bone alongside funny men Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. in Let’s Be Cops, which opens in UK cinemas on August 27.
The film follows a pair of hapless friends in Los Angeles, who masquerade as police officers to reap the benefits and prestige of wearing the badge.  We were lucky enough to chat with Nina about a variety of things including her role in the film, working with awesomely funny people, Twitter, and buddy cop movies (her answer may surprise you).
So I mentioned on Twitter that I’d be talking to you and I got a slew of responses from your 4 million followers that were like, “why do YOU get to talk to her.”  I guess I’m unworthy.
No, it’s funny.  My friends, and especially my brother at one point, he texted me one night and was like, “hey, we need to talk – it’s really important”.  I was like, oh my god – what happened… who died… did you have a girlfriend break up with you, are you okay? You know, what’s going on? We got on the phone and he was like, “I never want you to post another picture of me again.  Don’t tweet at me.  Don’t do anything.  Forget I exist. I’m sick of all your fans harassing me! Trying to contact me! I’m over it!” I was like, oh, I’m sorry! (Laughs)
This movie is pretty funny.  How did you come to be involved with it?
Well, just the typical way anyone in my position could.  I don’t get offered everything – maybe in the future.  Right now, for this one, I read the script and loved it.  I auditioned for it, and then I flew out and did chemistry reads with Damon, and I guess I just charmed them into giving me the part.  I guess they just liked me.
Yeah, you do have pretty good chemistry with Damon and he seems like a pretty cool guy.
He’s awesome, yeah.
What was it like working with somebody with sort of a big, comedic personality like his?
Well, for one, to be honest with you I wasn’t familiar with any of his work or Jake’s before the movie.  I later, when I got it and told people what I was doing, found out that they were a big deal in the comedy world.  But, I think that’s what helps not intimidate me, and I was able to just meet them – they’re like regular Joe Schmoes – and we had a great time, and we played around and I learned a lot from them.  I feel like if I had known about their stuff from before I would have changed the way I acted around them, or the way I looked at them, but I just saw them as my buddies.
Now you come from a background in drama, so is it harder to be funny or dramatic?
It’s harder for me to be funny.  I feel like because of the pressure you may need to be to be funny, that that was the first thing I needed to overcome.  But once I realized that that’s the last thing you should be doing, it made it a lot easier for me to just… Look funny things happen out of real, serious, desperate situations, so if you desperately want something, the way you act can sometimes come across as funny, because you have to go for it.  You just have to let go, and commit to what you’re doing.  So, there was a huge learning curve for me, and most of it was by watching and being around Damon and everyone else in the cast, because they were the ones that had to do the brunt of the comedy.  I got to sit back and sort of – it was like one giant acting class.  Then, when I did my next comedy, I felt way more prepared and way more comfortable to take on a bigger role.
This movie kind of sets up the possibility of a sequel.  Is that something you’d be interested in coming back for, should it happen?
Yeah, if it does well, and people want to see another one.  I know that all of us had fun doing it.  I would love that, yeah.
What’s your favourite buddy cop movie?
My favourite buddy cop movie… I mean, there’s so many of them.  I’m so bad at remembering titles of movies.  Name some and I’ll tell you which ones.
How about Lethal Weapon or Bad Boys?
Bad Boys is awesome.
Bad Boys is pretty awesome.
There was one that was in Canada that was a French Canadian production.  I think it ended up doing really, really, well in the United States.  I think it was called “Good Cop, Bad Cop”.
Yeah!  I think I know what you’re talking about.
It was French.  Wasn’t it in French?  Or one of the characters was French?
I think you’re right.  I can’t remember details but I think I know what you’re talking about.
That one was hilarious.  I remember at the time loving it. I can’t remember what it was called.
Alright, so I know you have season 6 of Vampire Diaries coming up, but are there any other films we should be on the lookout for?
Yeah, it called The Final Girls.  It’s also a comedy, with a thriller/action aspect.  It was so much fun to do.  Especially because, like I said I had Let’s Be Cops under my belt.  So this time I was able to play more, and feel more comfortable, and take more risks and just create a character that was all my own.  And I just loved it because it is such an original concept, and I personally am sort of over seeing the same thing being done over and over again as an audience member.  So, especially as an actress getting to work on a project that’s an original concept, with really talented filmmakers, an awesome cast, it was a real joy for me.
Let’s Be Cops is out in cinemas now.

Nina Dobrev shows off her amazing bikini body while hanging out with the shirtless and hunky Alexander Ludwig on Friday (August 22) on a yacht in Ibiza, Spain.
The 25-year-old Vampire Diaries actress and the 22-year-old When the Game Stands Tall actor were also seen sitting together on top of a smaller commuter boat that day. They were joined by several friends while enjoying the beautiful weather.
Alexander, who is currently being featured in the JJ Spotlight Series, told us about the scare wars he has with Nina.
“Right now, she’s winning, but it’s only because I’m working on Vikings, and she came to Dublin and scared me. So I’m going to go to Atlanta and gonna get her back, so it’s still on,” Alexander exclusively told us. “She had a friend, that also works with me, and she flew out, and she was supposed to come visit but she came and visited a couple days early. I walked into the hotel lobby and she was hiding behind a wall, and she freaked me out. I was really happy to see her, but I was also very angry that she got me.”

[Interviews] Nina Dobrev for New York Post

Why Nina Dobrev’s love life is the talk of Twitter

On the night of the Los Angeles movie premiere of her new movie, “Let’s Be Cops,” Nina Dobrev was getting dolled up in a colorful Zuhair Murad minidress, Salvatore Ferragamo heels and Tiffany & Co. jewels, her mood decidedly giddy.
“I like to get my friends together and make it a day of getting ready for a big event, because I’m not here very often — ‘Vampire Diaries’ shoots in Atlanta,” she says. Dobrev’s date? Her best friend, “Dancing With the Stars” pro-turned- actress Julianne Hough, who was on her way over to get her hair and makeup done as well. “We’ll hang out, get ready, get in the car and go. We’ll make it a chill, relaxed, fun environment.”
The film, released last
week, is Dobrev’s first foray into comedy. She plays Josie,
a waitress who befriends two customers (Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr.) who go to a party wearing police uniforms that are so convincing, they end up impersonating cops.

“I’ve always loved the genre, but I’ve never done comedy,” the 25-year-old says. “It was good for me to start with this one, because I didn’t have the pressure of carrying all the comedy on my shoulders — the boys have the jokes, for the most part.”
After a recent
breakup
with her
“Vampire”
co-star Ian Somerhalder (the two dated for three years), plus rabid Internet gossip about her post-breakup hookups (tongues wagged that Dobrev was spotted kissing several guys at Comic-Con, including Orlando Bloom, Ben McKenzie, David Anders and Derek Theler), it makes sense the actress would choose a trusted girlfriend as her date for the big premiere— so the focus can be on the movie rather than who she may or may not have been getting close to at the after-party.
“I laugh stuff off all the time,” she says of online rumors. “If you read half the s–t people wrote about me, you’d be in hysterical laughter, too. It’s not always bad things — people are generally pretty positive, and I haven’t had any scandals, which is why I can laugh about it — but still, anytime you read anything that’s not true or well sensationalized, it’s like, ‘Well, there we go.’ So many people are speculating, and even some of my own friends are fooled by it, so what will the rest of the world think?”
When the Comic-Con rumors surfaced, Dobrev tweeted a photo to her 4.86 million followers, “Apparently I have SOOOO many boyfriends. Here’s four more. I’m so busy. #tabloidsillyness”
“Apparently I had a busy weekend,” she says with a chuckle. “So at this point, stay tuned for next year, when I have a kissing booth set up at Comic-Con. Why not, right?”

Asking herself “Why
not?” has been a huge part
of Dobrev’s life this year, particularly when it comes
to traveling and chalking up personal adventures. While “Vampire” was on hiatus this spring (Season 6 returns Oct. 2), Dobrev jumped on a plane to Europe and traveled solo
— as in completely alone —
for a month and a half. While this sounds like something
an insane celebrity would do, especially a highly recognizable one who has been on countless magazine covers, a hit TV show for six years, and in such movies as “Chloe” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” Nina says it made perfect sense to her.
“I used to pride myself on being totally independent,” explains Dobrev, who was born in Bulgaria and raised in Toronto. “Everything I’ve done until now is because I worked my ass off. I never needed anyone — I just made it happen. Nowadays, I’m never by myself, whether I’m with 150 crew members on set, on a plane or at an event. I haven’t had any alone time for a while, and I wanted to get away and feel that way again.”
Dobrev’s MO? After landing in Europe, she would meet people in bars or coffee shops, strike up a conversation and, depending what their plans were, end up in another country. At one point, she met some Australians who live in Bali and spent the rest of the trip traveling with them.

“I don’t like being a tourist in any city — I like being a local,” she says.
But did she get recognized?
“Not really. In fact, those [Australian] guys didn’t recognize me at all. It wasn’t until day two or three that people started coming up to me and they were like, ‘Wait, who are you? Why do people want to take pictures with you?’ By day six, they were like, ‘Wait, you’re actually crazy. Why did you come here by yourself in your situation?’ But look, if I’m at a bar in Bali and I don’t have an entourage with me, and I’m not trying to get attention, no one assumes it’s me. It’s all about the way you carry yourself.”
Dobrev’s overseas adventures included wake-boarding by day and snowboarding by night in Switzerland, surfing with “the No. 1 local Balinese surfer, a 15-year-old kid,” and witnessing “one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.”

She also learned a few good drinking games. “Have you played Beat the Dealer?” she asks excitedly. “Oh my god — Google it. It’s fun. And dangerous.”
Her boldness carries over onto the red carpet. For the past three years Dobrev has worked with stylist Ilaria Urbinati (whose clients include Bradley Cooper, Emmy Rossum and Lizzy Caplan), cultivating what Dobrev calls a “chameleonlike style that’s fashion-forward and edgy but classic. Ilaria and I have the same vision, and now we’re very close.” She laughs again: “How could we not be when she sees me naked every couple of weeks?”
Dobrev gravitates toward Elie Saab and Naeem Khan for big events, but she experiments with both newer and established designers. This year, she even attended her first Paris fashion week.
“Versace was really exciting, and Chanel was the crème de la crème as an experience,” she says. “If someone had told me 10 years ago I would one day be going to the Chanel show and hanging out with Karl Lagerfeld, I would’ve been like, ‘You’re crazy.’”
Off-duty, Dobrev’s style is much more casual. In Atlanta, where she likes to go bike- riding or play volleyball if she’s not shooting, she can usually
be found wearing jeans or a tee with yoga pants. In LA, she goes for boho-casual maxidresses. And in New York or Europe,
it’s something “cooler, because there’s a different energy.”

Regardless of locale, Dobrev keeps a bag packed with travel essentials: Noise-canceling Bose ear buds, an eye mask, a facial mask, super-comfortable clothes and a pillow. It’s all in the name of getting much- needed rest, other people’s opinions be damned: “Today
I was sitting next to a random person [on a plane], and I’m wearing my white facial mask that makes me look like a mummy, my eye mask, my ear buds and my big pillow around my neck. The guy next to me must’ve thought I was bats–t crazy.”
But guess what? She couldn’t have cared less.
