[News] Delena Won MTV's "Ship of the Year" Award

At Comic-Con in San Diego Thursday night, mtvU announced the winners of their first-ever Fandom Awards. Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and Retta (Parks and Recreation) showed up to give The Vampire Diaries the Ship of the Year award. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder accepted the award via satellite during San Diego Comic Con. “We want to thank you guys for all of your love and support of Delena,” Nina said in her acceptance speech. Added Somerhalder: “Our ship has been through some ups and downs and we are not sure where we would be without your support. So thank you, and we will try to keep it interesting for you.” The two beat out many huge on-screen couples including Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games, Dean and Castiel from Supernatural, Stiles and Derek from Teen Wolf, and Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in Sherlock.  

MTV and mtvU will premiere the 60-minute "mtvU Fandom Awards Special" on Sunday, July 27, at 8 p.m. ET.
